![]() Monitor screen switching on and off al over sudden, etc. So I decided to go for a lighter HDMI cable.Īnd then the problems began. BUT, this Profigold cable is a very thick cable, about 1cm diameter, and I was afraid that this heavy cable might ruine the internal HDMI connector of my Mac Mini M1. Perfect picture and no problems whatsoever with the monitor. I used an expensive 'state-of-the-art' HDMI Cable from Profigold which I had left from my audio set. I received my Mac Mini M1 about a month ago (end of June). This resolution is available to me with DP but not HDMI. I'm trying to target a scaled resolution of 3008 x 1692 which is just about the Goldilocks resolution for me in terms of readability. With HDMI the system reports a native resolution of 5K (5120 x 2180), and with DP it (occasionally) reports 6k (6016 x 3384). For whatever reason the scaling options are different for HDMI and DP, and neither are reporting the correct native resolution for this monitor in the System Report (4k, 3840 x 2160). There are USB 3 upstream/downstream ports, but I'm not using them. This monitor does not let you select HDMI or DP versions (it supports HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 or DP 1.2). The only setting on this monitor available to me that has anything to do with i/o (besides simply selecting an input) is DDC/CI, which I've turned off since the M1 doesn't support it anyway. Not sure which settings on the monitor you are referring to. I'm trying it with the screensaver turned off and login screen (password) disabled to see if that improves the situation. The problem was resolved but returned after a while when it went to screensaver. ![]() I have sleep turned off (computer and display). Wondering if I should just return it and wait for the bugs to get worked out. It's a bummer because it's a great performer in every other respect. The only way to resolve this is a full restart.įeel like I might be getting burned by jumping in early on another first-gen Apple product that's not quite ready for the public. ![]() The lines persist even after the video is closed. Lastly, displaying video fullscreen in 4k introduces tiny vertical lines (every other pixel maybe?) and brightness flickering. Again, never an issue with the Intel MacBook I had used with this monitor up until now. When set to "Default for display" the system report correctly detects the monitor as 4k. ![]() This has the effect of doubling the size of everything (too big) rather than increasing the size by a third (just right). When the display is set to scale to "appear like 1440" (my preferred setting for this monitor) the System Report is showing the Mac is incorrectly detecting the monitor's native resolution as 5k.
